Interior painting in Leeds
Rooms finished the slow way: filled, sanded, cut in by hand and left so clean you would not know a decorator had been in.

What the work involves
Most of what makes a painted room look expensive happens before the lid comes off the tin. Cracks are raked out and filled twice, nail pops are sunk, old flaking edges are feathered back and every surface is sanded and wiped down. Only then do we cut in and roll. It takes longer, and it is the reason the walls still look right when the low winter sun comes across them.
We work in occupied homes almost every week, so the house is treated as a home. Floors are covered edge to edge, furniture is moved and sheeted, sockets and switches are masked or taken off, and the sanders run through extraction so the dust stays in the bag rather than on your bookshelves. At the end of each day the room is left tidy and usable wherever we can manage it.
Paint choice is yours. Many of our clients already have a colour in mind from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Mylands or a trade range, and we are happy to work with whichever you have chosen. If you are undecided, we will bring sample pots and paint proper boards so you can see the colour in your own light before committing a whole room to it.
The process

- 04
Finish
Cut in by hand, two coats or more, then a snagging walk round together.

Straight advice
Worth knowing before you book
Fresh plaster
New plaster needs to dry right through before it is painted, then a thinned mist coat so the paint grips. We will tell you honestly if a room is not ready.
Matt or eggshell
Flat matt hides imperfect old walls best; tougher scrubbable mattes suit kitchens, halls and children's rooms. We will talk you through the trade-off for each room.

Questions about interior painting
How long does it take to paint a room?
A typical bedroom with walls, ceiling and woodwork usually takes two to three days once preparation and drying time are allowed for. Rooms with lots of repairs or dark colours being covered take longer, and we will say so at the quote stage.
Do I need to empty the room?
No. Clear small items and anything fragile, and we will move and cover the furniture. Large pieces are usually gathered in the middle of the room and sheeted.
Can you match a colour I already have?
Yes, if you can tell us the brand and colour name, or give us a sample. Paint from a different maker mixed to look the same rarely matches perfectly, so we recommend sticking with the original brand where possible.
Will there be much mess?
Very little. We sheet the floors and furniture, sand with dust extraction and clean up at the end of each day. The aim is that the only sign we were there is the new finish.
