Designer papers, panoramic murals and natural grasscloths hung with tight seams and pattern matches that line up all the way round the room.

What the work involves
Expensive wallpaper shows every mistake underneath it, so the wall comes first. Old paper is stripped, the plaster is repaired and sanded flat, and the surface is sized or lined so the new paper has an even base to dry onto. On walls that are poor or uneven we hang a lining paper first, cross-lined where the paper calls for it.
Before the first drop goes up we plan the room: where the pattern should be centred, where the last awkward join will fall, and how the design will run round windows, chimney breasts and doors. Getting that plan right is the difference between a room that looks considered and one where the pattern drifts.
We hang most types, from standard pulp and non-woven papers to heavy vinyls, hand-printed and untrimmed papers, silks, grasscloth and large panoramic murals delivered in numbered panels. If you are still choosing, we can tell you how many rolls you need once we have measured the room.
The process
How we approach it
- 01
Measure
We measure the room and the pattern repeat so you order the right number of rolls from one batch.
- 02
Prepare
Strip, repair, sand and size the walls, or line them where needed.
- 03
Plan
Set out the pattern so it is centred on the focal point and the final join is hidden.
- 04
Hang
Hang, match and trim, then check every seam in raking light before we leave.

Straight advice
Worth knowing before you book
Batch numbers
Rolls from different print batches can vary slightly in colour. Order everything at once and check the batch numbers match before the paper arrives.
Natural papers
Grasscloth and other natural papers show visible joins and colour variation by design. We will set expectations before you order.

Questions about wallpaper hanging
How many rolls of wallpaper do I need?
It depends on the size of the room, the roll size and the pattern repeat, which can add a surprising amount of waste. We measure up and give you an exact number, with a spare roll for any repairs later.
Can you hang paper I have bought myself?
Yes, most of our wallpaper jobs are with papers the client has chosen. Let us know the brand and design before the visit so we can check the hanging instructions.
Do you hang murals?
Yes, including large panoramic murals supplied in numbered panels. They need careful setting out, so allow a little longer than a standard paper.
Should the wall be lined first?
Old, patched or uneven walls nearly always benefit from lining paper. On smooth, sound plaster it is often not needed. We will check at the visit.
