What the work involves
Some rooms call for more than a flat coat of emulsion. Limewash and lime paints give walls a soft, cloudy movement that changes with the light. Mineral and clay paints have a deep, chalky matt that suits old houses and calm modern rooms alike. Each needs its own preparation and application, and none of them forgive shortcuts.
Colour drenching, where walls, woodwork and sometimes the ceiling are all painted in one colour, has become one of the most requested looks in Leeds homes. It looks simple, but it needs immaculate preparation because there is no contrast line to hide behind. Two-tone schemes and painted panelling, by contrast, need perfectly straight, level lines set out by hand.
We also paint floorboards and stair runners in hard-wearing floor paint, add painted stripes or geometric details, and finish feature ceilings. If you have a finish in mind from a magazine or a photo, show us and we will tell you honestly how it will look in your room.

Straight advice
Worth knowing before you book
Limewash on modern walls
Limewash needs a mineral or porous base. On walls that have been painted with modern emulsion, a special primer is needed first, or the limewash will not bond.
Drenching and light
Dark drenched colours can look very different in north- and south-facing rooms. Sample boards are essential.

Questions about specialist finishes
What is colour drenching?
Painting a room's walls, skirtings, doors, frames and sometimes the ceiling all in one colour, for a calm, enveloping look. It needs flawless preparation because there are no contrast lines to hide imperfections.
Is limewash suitable for indoors?
Yes. Limewash and lime-based paints work well indoors on porous surfaces and give a soft, textured look. They need the right base to bond to.
Can you paint floorboards?
Yes. Boards are cleaned, sanded, filled where needed and finished in a hard-wearing floor paint. Painted floors are popular in bedrooms, halls and on stairs.
Can you copy a look I have seen online?
Usually, yes. Show us the picture and we will explain what is involved and how it would look in your space.
