Spray painting
What the work involves
Spraying gives a smooth, consistent finish that is hard to achieve by hand on detailed or flat surfaces. It is especially good for kitchen doors, panelled internal doors, staircase spindles, radiators, built-in joinery and uPVC windows and doors that have faded or yellowed.
Most of the work in a spray job is the masking. Floors, walls, glass, seals and anything that is not being painted are covered completely before the gun comes out, and inside the house we create a sealed working area so overspray stays where it should. Where possible, removable items such as doors are taken away and sprayed off site.
For uPVC the frames are deep cleaned, keyed and coated with a flexible paint made for plastic, which can transform tired white or brown windows into a modern grey, black or heritage colour without the cost of replacements.

- 02

Clean, key and prime so the finish bonds properly.
- 04
Spray
Even coats applied, then masking removed and edges checked by hand.

Straight advice
Worth knowing before you book
Weather for uPVC
Outdoor spraying needs dry, still weather and mild temperatures, so external uPVC work is booked with the forecast in mind.
Colour choice
uPVC coatings come in a wide range of colours. Darker colours absorb more heat, so we will check the frames are suitable for the shade you want.

Questions about spray painting
Is spraying messier than brushing?
Not if it is done properly. Spraying produces overspray, which is why the masking is so thorough. Rooms are sealed off and everything not being painted is covered before we start.
Can uPVC windows really be painted?
Yes, with the right preparation and a coating designed for plastic. The frames are cleaned, keyed and primed so the paint bonds and flexes with the material.
Do you spray on site or take items away?
Both. Doors and drawer fronts are often sprayed off site; fixed items such as frames, staircases and carcasses are sprayed in place under full masking.
How long does a sprayed finish take to cure?
It is touch-dry quickly but needs time to harden fully. We will give you care instructions for the first few weeks.
